Are you a highly skilled operational leader in the electrical contracting industry who has an interested in becoming an Employee Owner? Baker Electric is looking for a Project Executive to join our Los Angeles office (located in Cypress). As the Project Executive, you will lead the charge on the most complex project tasks, troubleshoot issues, celebrate wins and mentor your project support team along the way. The Project Executive will be responsible for providing executive-level oversight for a project or multiple projects. The Project Executive ensures Project Managers and Sr. Project Managers successfully manage the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of a portfolio of projects. The Project Executive has a strong technical background and high level of professional communication. The Project Executive proactively develops new business opportunities and relationships with current and potential customers with a focus on customer retention. The Project Executive is an exempt position and may lead and directly manage employees. SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE: Education / Training / Work Experience: - Proven experience directly managing and motivating employees - 9+ years of experience in electrical project management - 7+ years directly involved with contract plans/specs and project accounting - Business to Business (B2B) sales and customer retention efforts - Successful graduation of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program or long-term experience in the electrical industry in a variety of capacities - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related degree a plus - Strong ability to learn new technology - Proficiency in MS Office / O365 applications - Proficiency in Procore (or related project management software) and Accubid Change Order (or related estimating software) Job Requirements:Knowledge and Skills: - - - - - - - -Team oriented with strong communication and collaboration skills - - - - - - - -Outstanding interpersonal relationship building - - - - - - - -Risk Management - - - - - - - - -Cashflow Management - - - - - - - - -Contract Management - - - - - - - - -Scheduling Capability - - - - - - - - -Negotiating Capability - Work Environment / Physical Requirements: - - - - - - - -This position operates primarily in a professional office environment. Job walks will take place at job sites, which means intermittent exposure to the conditions typically associated with a construction site. Occasionally may lift boxes full of materials typically 25 pounds or less WHAT YOU'LL DO: - - - - - - - -Provides executive oversight for a project or multiple projects that are technically complex or of high value - - - - - - - -Provide operational oversight in the areas of client management, procedural issues, financial and reporting issues, and workforce planning and analysis - - - - - - - -Responsible for direct supervision of Project Coordinator, Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers and Project Managers - - - - - - - - -Work with Human Resources to recruit, interview, select and hire an appropriate number of employees for your business unit - - - - - - - - -Provide oversight and direction to the employees in the business unit in accordance with Baker Electric's policies and procedures - - - - - - - -Promote positive customer relations by dealing professionally and fairly with all contractors, subcontractors and vendors, and continually instilling this philosophy in the project team regarding safety, quality, customer service and profitability - - - - - - - - -Proactively execute business development and customer retention efforts - - - - - - - -Collaborate with Vice President on annual business group revenue goals and create a business development strategy - - - - - - - - -Perform monthly project reviews with project teams to ensure adherence to schedules, quality of work, safety, administration and profitability - - - - - - - -Analyze available qualified personnel and make specific project assignments to meet project needs - - - - - - - -Assist the PMs and Superintendents with resolution of specific issues and requests - - - - - - - -Lead final change order negotiations - - - - - - - -Represent the business group at Senior Management meetings, prepare relevant reporting - - - - - - - -Participate in project close out meetings and verify completeness of projects by ensuring Project Managers and staff are following through on all open items - - - - - - - - -Ensure all project-associated Baker Electric employees follow and understand our interpretation of the project's specifications and contract documents - - - - - - - - -Control financial responsibility by ensuring labor, material, equipment and subcontract budgets are achieved - - - - - - - - -Travel to project sites regularly to interact with the Project Manager, Area Superintendent and Project Engineers to verify the project status, evaluate costs, and provide guidance to maneuver through obstacles that could affect the project's profitability - - - - - - - - - - -Audit the scope of all subcontracted items with the PM of the project to ensure compliance and completeness with the contract documents (low voltage systems, excavation, medium voltage, testing services etc.) - - - - - - - -Discuss manpower requirements at least weekly with the PM's, Superintendents and the Operation Manager - - - - - - - - -Monitor job progress, assist in cost to complete estimates, and man-hour to complete estimates as needed - - - - - - - -Oversee letters as required to notify the Owner's representative of project conditions and delays that have time and cost impacts to the project - - - - - - - - -Anticipate and communicate potential long lead item delays to prevent possible disruptions in the production schedule - - - - - - - - -Monitor the PM and PE's material ordering and that vendor supplied material is cost competitive - - - - - - - -Lead buyout of large material packages - - - - - - - - -Anticipate risks and manage final negotiations on legal claims - - - - - - - - -Support the Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Foreman through the claims process - Benefits: ESOP, 401k match, PTO, medical/dental/vision, vehicle assistance and more! --- --- ABOUT US: -Baker Electric -has been in business since 1938 and is a fourth generation, full service electrical contractor.
