Job Description:
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Emergency Room Profession:
Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Emergency Room (ER) Duration: 13
weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7pm-7am) Experience:
Minimum Years of Experience required License: CA License required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS required Must-Have: - Ability to
perform patient assessment according to hospital policy. - Perform
initial assessment based on the patient’s clinical presentation,
care setting, age, development level, and cultural orientation in a
timely manner. - Conduct thorough physical, psychological, and
social assessments. - Identify and prioritize needs for further
assessment based on clinical presentation and patient responses. -
Initiate discharge planning for each patient upon admission as
appropriate. - Develop an individualized Patient Plan of Care based
on assessment needs. - Include input from patients, families, and
multidisciplinary health care team members in care planning. -
Identify specific nursing diagnoses relevant to assessment
findings. - Identify and implement interventions for each nursing
diagnosis based on patient needs. - Communicate effectively with
multidisciplinary health care team members regarding patient care
needs. - Conduct patient and family education tailored to the
patient’s age, learning needs, and readiness to learn. - Document
nursing interventions and patient education accurately. - Evaluate
and document patient responses to the Plan of Care and
interventions. - Revise and update the Plan of Care as necessary. -
Facilitate systems processes to address situations that may
negatively impact patient outcomes. - Adhere to the five rights of
medication administration and maintain transcription accuracy. -
Administer blood products and IV therapy per hospital policy. -
Function effectively in emergency patient care situations. -
Demonstrate appropriate interventions regarding the use of
restraints. - Perform waived testing according to hospital policy.
- Maintain a high level of clinical expertise and adapt to new
information and trends in nursing practice. - Maintain required
certifications. - Exhibit effective written and verbal
communication skills in English. - Calculate figures and amounts
such as proportions and percentages. - Define problems, collect
data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. - Thrive in a
high-volume, fluctuating census environment and manage
interruptions effectively.
