POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for support, oversight and management of technical design, code integration and
challenges for elevators in the various United States markets and code jurisdictions as assigned. Will work closely with Engineering, Construction, Field, Quality Assurance and Safety Department, Research & Development and all company factories, as well as headquarters operations, and be able to recognize deviation from company's standard data and propose efficient solutions within the company's technical capability. Additional coordination with third party vendors required as well.

Support Elevator/Escalator Division (EED) groups to include Development Engineering, Project Engineering, Field Operations, Quality Assurance & Safety, Research & Development with trouble resolutions, field training, and development of support information when the need arises to improve efficiency and consistency.

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Support and coordinate code matters with all company factories and other project and development engineering team members to update/develop the products provided by the factory/locally as directed by manager.
  • Actively follow and understand all ANSI ASME 17.XX and related (e.g., building, NFPA, local jurisdiction, etc.) code updates; advise appropriate EED personnel of effects of the changes.
  • Support and as assigned participate in NEII code committee efforts, represent EED on committees and to industry and code authorities. Manage and be up to date in all code related texts; update the code adoption table with the latest information for each local jurisdiction. Oversee all CA approval related tasks for safety devices (governor, safety, buffer), and elevator & escalator control systems.
  • Support new and permanent variance related tasks in terms of logistics, engineering, and hearing as assigned.
  • Ability to proactively learn codes in new regions including NYC & other new areas which MEUS will geographically expand its market to coordinate between factory and local jurisdiction. Maintain excellent professional relationships with code authorities.
  • Support and manage strategic assigned tasks including engineering detailed study and customer interface, making detailed plans to accomplish goals, and supporting integration of technical activities.
  • Provide documents and training to Field, Sales, PEs and PMs on new elevator devices and installations required to meet new ASME and local codes and EED standards, support field training and trouble resolution while supporting all departments.
  • When assigned a task, ensure that Engineers, Field Operations, Project Managers promptly receive the required technical support needed to complete their tasks successfully. Support branches in finding solutions to field troubles, according to Responsibility Matrix mutually prepared by Construction, QA & S, Service and Modernization, Operations.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for field and branches as necessary.
  • Work with Engineering groups, Construction group and all factories as appropriate on product development.
  • Support current Engineering and field practices by visiting sites and working with the field staff to follow the current installation standard and expectations standards while supporting Engineering. (Objectives: Consistency and improvement).
  • Seek efficiency improvements during visits. Evaluate areas of improvement with the department team for implementation. This would include updating of standards or developing new standardized tasks and other improvement programs and tasks as agreed, for branch and field support Perform detailed Instruction on use of tooling and installation information that has been provided to the staff, insure correct utilization of the tools along with complete understanding of the provided installation support information.
  • Support and enforce current IIPP and other relevant safety programs, Engage in Corporate Social Responsibility activities where possible Assist all departments as assigned
  • Participate in Vision 2025 Committees and process as assigned, build content with all group as directed for LMS library to support training of all EED staff.
  • Participate actively in Lean Transformation project as assigned.
  • Perform other jobs functions as assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical or equivalent preferred
    • Been active in the elevator industry for a minimum of 7 years having direct experience with technical elevator/escalator background
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and strong computer skills.
    • Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide training and guidance by effective communications and support.
    • Possess excellent grasp of codes, including reading/analyzing code documents, in different state jurisdictions.
    • Project management training and leadership experience preferred, ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
    • Excellent communicator with experience in participating with various channels of elevator/escalator code compliance discussion
      The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $76,800 and $105,600/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including commissions based on achieving individual performance and/or sales metrics, incentive compensation and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

      If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
