Equitable's Investment Management Group (EIMG) is seeking a highly
motivated risk professional to join its team. The Director of Risk
will lead efforts to implement our risk framework with the goal of
ensuring risks are identified and mitigated.
This role has regular interactions with the Independent Board of
Trustees so strong communication skills are a must. Candidates must
possess the ability to work collaboratively within the group and
across the broader organization.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead the Risk Management function within EIMG
Responsible for administering the liquidity risk management program
for the EIMG sponsored mutual funds
Continuously improve the Risk Management framework to assess,
monitor and report risks within the asset management business
Perform risk assessments to identify the most significant risks to
the funds business and work with the business areas to develop
actions plans to mitigate the risks
Lead the implementation of new regulatory rules that impact the
funds business, such as valuation and derivatives rules
Work with various stakeholders in the company to develop regular
and ad-hoc reports covering regulatory requests such as business
continuity and cyber security, among others
Lead regular Independent Board communications related to risk
exposures and mitigating actions as well as monthly calls with the
Lead Trustee of the Board
Interact with external vendors including subadvisors to ensure
appropriate controls and practices to safeguard EIMG's
information
Lead the Risk Committee comprising the COO, CFO, CCO, CIO and
Legal
Problem Solving: Analyzes and synthesizes information and devises
alternative resolution strategies. Develops successful resolutions
to critical or wide-impact problems.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Knowledge of collaborative
techniques and approaches;
ability to promote a culture of continuous improvement and working
together across functions
to solve business problems and meet business goals.
Effective Presentations: Knowledge of effective presentation tools
and techniques; ability to
present information to groups with the appropriate degree of
formality.
Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the organization's industry group,
trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and
trendsetters; ability to apply industry knowledge appropriately to
diverse situations.
Producing Results: Understanding of the criticality of getting
things done in spite of current
circumstances and the ability to utilize assigned resources and
leverage back-channel
resources (individuals or teams) to achieve or exceed planned
outcomes.

Other Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required
5 years of experience, preferably in a risk position working in
investment management
FRM certification preferred
Self-starter looking to bring fresh ideas to the position
Thorough understanding of the operational and compliance aspects of
investment advisers and risk management techniques
Ability to stay ahead of regulatory developments for applicability
to and implementation within EIMG; must be able to represent EIMG
in industry risk groups
Demonstrated collaboration and ability to interface with both
internal and external constituents
Must be comfortable dealing with both complexity and ambiguity and
be able to explore multiple solutions to a problem
